I assume UK? The father is financially liable, and you must get money from him on your own. If he can afford but isn't being responsible, social services has to determine that he is an unfit parent. If he can't afford, he must contact social services at the same time you apply for foster parenting.

The father is paying £150 a week (£50 per child) me and my wife already have 2 kids and now we have 5 is a massive strain on us... we took the kids because we cauld not see tham go into care where they would have been fostered out.. we have spent our saveings on a bigger car to fit us all in... im a self employed builder and work is very tight all our saveings have gone on the girls as in car... beds... decorating bedrooms.. own TV in rooms trying to make tham feel at home... I keep thinking that if we dident take the girls the social would have fostered tham out so why can't they help me...

    Beds, yes.
    Decorating bedrooms?
    A TV for each bedroom?
Absolutely ridiculous. You are getting PLENTY of support, enough to pay back the beds over time. And you didn't have to buy a bigger car. Of course no agency is going to give you more.

Do what you want, but what I'm saying is don't expect the taxpayer (the government), who is already strapped, to foot the bill.

No one is asking you to treat your nieces any different from your own children. But if money is tight, then you explain to your children that things are tight and they are going to have do without.

Children don't need a TV of their own. They don't all need fancy decorations.

Many families do without a car, I currently don't have one and ride bikes, walk or use bus for any place I go, so a car, you can't all go at one time.? So what

Next you have to get some form of legal custody and make the father pay correct support

Each child IS getting slightly over 80 US dollars a week from the father. I eat very well on 55 US dollars a week. 25 more US dollars per week, per child - for what? On what planet is a government going to fork over more than that?
