    Picky Maltese
I have a 14 year old Maltese that is very picky and most of her teeth have fallen out so she has a really hard time eating hard food. I have tried soft food but she won't touch it. She only weighs 4 1/2 lbs. and looks like I am starving her. Is there any supplement or food I could try to get her to eat?

I would say call your vet and see what they say. Has she been checked out lately to make sure nothing else is going on with her. Or has she always been this way? Have you tried soaking her dry food in chicken broth? Hope you can figure out something for this older lady.

I'll have to second the vet check, at her age it could be caused by a number of things from dental disease to something going on internally with her organ systems.
At 4 1/2 pounds and 14 yeas of age I wouldn't put it off.

If her teeth have FALLEN out, chances are those that remain are in terrible shape, which may be the reason she isn't eating. Terrible dental disease can significantly reduce a dog's quality of life.

If teeth have fallen out, then I am assuming you don't take your dog to the vet. Dogs of a senior age are supposed to see a vet twice a year for check-ups. Had your dog been to the vet, the bad teeth would have been pulled out. A vet visit is very overdue!
