    Contraceptive injection
Hi, I've been on the Depo injection for about 3 years now and stopped having it a week ago. I've read so many stories of women who can't get pregnant or that it took them years but then I've heard of some women only taking weeks or months. Within a week or two after not having my jab I always get a period so does this mean I could get pregnant within the same time then?

I only ever had 1 depo injection and never had one since. It messed up my hormones completely. I turned into a person I didn't like at all. I bled non stop for 9months solid. It was the worst year of my life. I was terrified I couldn't have children and 2 years later I am 7 weeks pregnant. It will take time but you will get there, just remember everyone is different.

Hi Lucy... I know what you're thinking... I've been there! I was on the shot for about 15 months, and I had to get off all birth control because it was harming my system. I got off it 2 years ago, and ever since I have worried about whether I could get pregnant. Not to mention all the stuff I've read afterward says it's more likely when you get pregnant to miscarry if you've been on the shot. So that is scary in itself... but I am pregnant, 7 weeks along in fact, and I'm a little worried... but I'm just trying to enjoy everyday and hoping for the best. I hope this helped in some way... good luck.

I took two injections, and was going in for my third, but decided to switch to the pill instead, because I had so many awful side effects(taking the shot is something I will ALWAYS regret, and still suffer from some of the consequences). Some women, the shot does not seem to have any effect on and they can get pregnant right away. Doctors will usually tell you to allow at least 18 months after your last injection to get pregnant. I got pregnant 18 months after I stopped taking the shot(was on the pill for 6 months after that, and so it was one year before I got pregnant, after actively starting to try to conceive) There are however some women that it takes years to conceive, or some that are diagnosed with "unknown infertility"(as a friend of mine) Some women have even gone into early menopause. So really it just depends on your body, and how the shot effected you.

Contraceptive Pill [ 2 Answers ]

Hi I take the contraceptive pill Levlen, which is the 28-day packet, containing 7 'sugar' pills. Just wondering, because the doctors say when you first start taking this it takes a few weeks for the contraceptive to be fully effective so you should use condoms, but does this also occur...
