I had a problem with water running to tub and shower when diverter is in shower position.( 3 valve briggs). I changed the diverter and problem still persist. What are the reasons for this?

First a few more details about the valve. Exactly which valve, brand do you have?

If you changed the diverter stem and washers, (see image) and you still have a probrm I'd check the seats for nicks and rough spots. Good luck and let me knbow what you find. Tom

Thanks Tom,

I got the problem solved. The new diverter had an o ring in package that was not in place. This o ring goes over the part with two slits on both sides.
