    Two wires from heater to thermostat
    How to I connect the thermostat if I only have 2 wires coming to my thermostat (double pole). Source runs to heater then to thermostat

    Depends on maker of thermostat. Call manufacturer and they can tell u which screws to hook wires too.

    It also depends on type of heat u have.

    Thanks for the response Chuck.

    The thermostat has two wires for line and two wires for load and there are only two wires ran to the thermostat(240v coming from heater).

    I know if I had a single pole thermostat I could increase/decrease heat only, but the double pole has an off position which will break the circuit at the thermostat.

    I guess my question is should I have any concern of the one live line going through the heater while the thermostat is off?

    I don't screw with the HVAC guy's equipment and (hopefully) he doesn't alter my wiring. Just because something uses electricity doesn't mean we know how the control wiring is hooked up in every case.
    Kind of the reason why some of the appliance specific questions don't get answered here sometimes.

    This is really a question for an HVAC guy, their equipment varies at least as much as a ceiling fan does...

    Yes Chuck you are correct. I'm sorry if it wasn't made clear.

    240v power source runs to baseboard heater. Then from heater, 12/2 wire runs to a double pole thermostat.

    Hey Chuck,

    I just put a single pole thermostat in. I don't think it's possible to use the double pole here unless I run another 2 wire from the thermostat to heater
