 I have a gas wall heater and the only way to turn on and off is to open bottom of heater and turn the knob on the Dayton 3E290 valve. I want to be able to run a wall thermostat but there are no places to add the wires. What can I convert the valve to so it accepts the remote thermostate Thank you

Hi there, I'm switching my thermostat for a newer digital one, though when I took out the old thermostat, there were only 2 black wires with white stripes on them.
