RN recently hired, now on hold due to criminal background check
Was recently hired as a RN to a hospital in Indiana after working at a different hospital for 14 years. Over the past 5 years I was involved in a couple misdemeanors and am now being questioned and delayed in starting my job due to these. One was a battery misdemeanor cause I bumped into owner of a club and she was friends with girl I was in argument with. No injuries, whatsoever, incurred. Cop was going to let me go, then girl spit something out at me and I lunged forward only bumping into owner. ( just my luck) I got a misdemeanor reckless driving charge a couple yeas later, both probation periods over and fines paid in completion. I was supposed to start this job on Monday, today being Sunday, and was notified this past Thursday of my records coming back showing these two things. Since they were not felonies , I didn't answer yes, to that question on the initial application. I was working as a home care nurse and ave my notice to them, expecting to be starting this job. Now, I am scared and worried that they will retract their eloyment offer with me after almost immediately hiring me after my "live" interview with several staff members. I have nothing but positive history with my 14 yeas as a nurse and am praying to God that this won't jeopardize my future.

It all depends on what their tolerance is to charges like this. I know what you are asking, but can't say what they will do, but you were not completely honest on your application.

I guess they didn't pay much attention to that part of your application, basing their decision on your past experience as a homecare nurse until someone picked up on that and requested validation.

Sorry I can't say anything absolutely positive as can't say how they will react under the circumstances. You will just have to wait it out.

I am in homecare and have to submit to a police check every two years as part of my employment contract.
