    Moving Expenses
My husband's new company paid for us to move but we still had to stay at a hotel and drive to the new location in two vehicles. Can we get reimbursed on the hotel stay, meals and mileage for the two vehicles?

    Thanks

You can claim the hotel stays during the actual trip and the first night in your new location, plus the mileage on BOTH vehicle, but NOT the meals.

I don't think you can have the hotel first night in the new location -- just the hotel stays on the way. No meals.

    TaxSearcher:

I have not double-checked this, so you may be right, but, historically, the first night in the new location is consider PART of the trip, which is why I allow my clients to claim it.
