    Guardianship
    The mother has signed over for us to be gaurdians but the dad won't (who is in jail) we have been taking care & providing for this little girl since she was 5 months old & now 16 months old. She doesn't want to stay with her mom & doesn't really know her dad cause it has been a while since she has seen him. The parents have a history of drugs, rehab, no jobs, no vehicle, no home to really call theirs, no high school diploma, & have been in and out of jail. The mother is currently running from DHS and from her probation officer. So what do I need to do about getting guardianship if dad isn't even on birth certificate and he won't sign. Does he have any say so. Please help on any advice you can give. Thank you.

    Will be hard to get mother into court for the hearing for guardianship if she is on the run from everyone ?

    But you hire an attorney who will attempt to show in a court hearing this is in best interest of the child.

    Once out of jail, the father can file to try and have child returned to him.

    I moved a few years ago and now I need to file for sole custody.witch state do I need to do it in ?
