    Worried
My friend has been breastfeeding her baby while she's using methamphetamines. She has been using for 2 months now. Her baby turned 1 today. She told me today that he's getting a black spot on his tongue. I'm so worried its catching up to him. Do you think the drugs are having a effect on him? Please answer back. Doesn't he get the drugs in the breast milk?

She has a history of drugs. She has been clean before she started recently for awhile now. Anyone know a site about breastfeeding while using drugs?

You are a wonderful friend to be so concerned.

Yes, dear he does get some of the drugs through breastmilk. Many a woman can have her baby taken away under these conditions.

Dude, your friend does NOT deserve to have a kid. Obviosly she cares about that kid as much as she cares about herself. You need to tell her that and tell her if she has any ounce of love left for her child she will just go a head and quit or just quit breastfeeding. That baby never asked to get high, and most certainly does not deserve to have brain damage for the rest of its life because his mommy wanted to get high.

I Think You Should Turn Her In To Cps. I Know It's Harsh But That Might Be What She Needs To Stop This Insanity. My Son Was Taken From Me At Birth Because I Was Addicted To Crack. I Got Him Back In About Six Months After Completing My Required Treatment Plan. I Have Now Been Clean For Almost Two Years And I Am A Much Better Person And Mother. Plus This Is So Unfair To The Child. That Baby Is Being Forced To Drink Breast Milk With Harmful Drugs In It. I Can't Believe She Is Breast Feeding The Bottle Would Obviously Be The Healthy Choice.

The best thing you will ever do for your friend and her baby is to turn her in to the authorities and to the familiy services, so the child can have a chance at life and the mother, your friend, can have a chance at Recovery. I know, I have been there. Please think this over, or the baby will end up addicted and or dead. I will be praying for you, the girl and her baby.
