I am a caucasian female with a medium skin color. My grandmother used to make her own lace and I was thinking about getting a white tattoo using her pattern. Not sure if I am going to get this on the back of my neck or upper arm however, I was wondering just how well this would show up. On my previous tattoo they used white for shading only so I'm thinking I may have to have this pattern outlined in another color to give some contrast to the white.

Anyone ever get a white tattoo? I would be interested to know how it turned out, how well you can see it and if you had to incorporate other colors in the pattern to make the white stand out.

As far as I know white is only used for shading. Tattoos are always most vibrant when you first get them, and then they fade as time goes on.

White won't show up well to begin with, and then it will fade as time goes by.

I would definitely ask a tattoo artist what they would recommend for this tat. Black would be the best bet, as it saturates the best of all the colors, and when it fades it's still vibrant.

When you go to get the tat done make sure you find an artist with a lot of experience. Ask to see his/her portfolio, and ask to talk to previous clients.

Because of the fading, the while will not show well even in a short time. But you can do the outline in a darker color and it wll help, even making it more a beige will help
