    I am tiling a shower enclosure, I've put up durock, is there a different or water proof drywall compound to use where I have to blend the new durock to the old drywall existing?

    Why is there a visible gap? I always filled that gap with thinset and overlaped that seam area with the tile in the few cases I've done it..
