Washing machine drain pipe leaking
My washing machine drain pipe leaks at base where it connects to the concrete slab, we took the wall apart and made sure it wasn't the machine itself the pipe looks to be cast iron our house was built in 75 I'm not sure it has a trap on it and it backs up in the kitchen sink as well is this just a clog issue or something else?

Your complain's confusing. First you say.
My washing machine drain pipe leaks at base where it connects to the concrete
and then you say,

So we're really looking at two problems. Let's start with the leak. If the stand pipe's cast iron you should see a hub above the cement that it's leaking from. Do you see such a hub? Let me know, Tom

Sorry about the confusion. Yes it is the hub, I wasn't sure what it was called, which is why I said base. Also, I wasn't sure if the two problems were intertwined which is why I mentioned the kitchen sink backing up during rinse cycles.

Is it leaking from the lead seal in the hub or is the pipe/hub cracked? Back to you, Tom
