I turned light switch on and now it won't turn off.
My light has been working fine with no problems at all, it got turned on and now won't turn off , I replaced the switch and wired up the same as old switch no difference .
And also had the switch disconnected with power on and all wires separated and light is still on ,there has been no work done on switch for over 5 years and has worked fine till now.
    Please help.

What you describe suggest a problem with the wiring in the light fixture not the switch.

Problem is probably in the house wiring in the ceiling box, not the fixture it self. Don't know wiring practices in Australia so couldn't anticipate what it would be but chances are that you will know it when you see it. Something like exposed wire.

Yer tried new light fitting and made no difference , but checked the wiring in the roof ( which considering I have a flat roof and 10m sheets wasn't easy ) but in the end I found the bare wire which luckly only was touching its self and not the steel cross beam which would have made the roof live . So fixed now and thanks very much for the help.
