How many of us have had 'rare connections' that fizzled anyway? It's not enough excuse to change the whole path of your life. Go to college, see him as often as you can, and if there is truly something enduring here, it will survive. College is just a bigger collection of people your age than high school was, and you are going to meet a lot of people you like. Keep in mind that many of those rare connections lose out to many mundane practicalities of daily life: careers, finances, children, houses, where you live, neatness, hours you sleep, couch potato vs activity, all blended in with the ability to compromise about the thousands of decisions two people have to make when living together.
