Can a non-custodial parent transfer their rights to their parents?
My fiancé has been informed recently that his ex-wife plans to transfer her rights to her parents. The courts recently established a child support order ordering her to pay. She has tried several things to get out of paying, and this is her latest attempt. We are confused, because neither of us think that it's possible. Not that it would bother me for her to give up her rights. I love the children and would adopt them. But if she is allowed to give them her rights, they will only continue to cause more problems with us than they already have.

A child is not property that can be transferred around. So no, she can't give up her rights. And if a court has ordered support they will not let her do this just to get out of support.

ANY question on law needs to include your general locale as laws vary by area.

And no a child can not be signed over to someone else. In some states grandparents will have rights to visit, if this is an issue.

Why not tell us what is going on in the child's life, the non custodial parents life, who you are in this and what is trying to be done?
