    Rights of a non-custodial Parent
My ex-husband has sole custody of our two children. We have a set visitation schedule and it is honored. I am concerned though because he stated that I am not listed as a parent on the children's school forms. He also hospitalized one of my children in a mental health facility for depression and did not tell me that she was there. I was later informed by both of my children that he told them not to tell me. Do I have a right to know and do I have a right to those records?

First off. If he has "sole" then you are discluded from the decision making process. Only if you have "joint" legal can you look at records and be put on lists. What type of visitation do you have?

I understand that I am excluded from the decision making process. I just wonder if I am excluded from access to information. I have a very standard visitation schedule of alternating weekends and holidays and it is clearly laid out in the paperwork

There are two types of custody, legal and phsycial, If he has full legal custody you have little or no rights,

The only rights you have are those listed in the written court custody agreement.
