When you are baptized, it is as a Christian. All Christian churches recognize infant or a previous Christian baptism of sprinkling, although some churches such as Pentecostals ask you to have an immersion baptism as an adult.

A Catholic church/priest will probably ask you to go through a series of classes to make sure you understand their teachings before you rejoin.

Actually the Baptist do not accept the Catholic baptism. Because Catholics "sprinkle" not "immerse" But the Catholics do accept the Baptist baptism.

You will need to talk to your priest if you gave up your membership and joined the Baptist Church,they may require you to officially rejoin the church. As a Catholic did you do the RICA classes and be confirmed ? Or were you just baptised a Catholic?

yes went through all the comfimation classes when I was younger and first communion and baptised as a baby was at the st joesph church in trenton mo

I guess I couldn't answer this question accurately in regards to what each denomination mandates. I CAN tell you however what the Bible has to say.

According to the Bible, baptism was done after a person accepted Christ as their savior. It has nothing to do with a denomination. In fact, the first century church was never baptized in any church. We read in Acts 8: 36-39 all that was needed was belief in the Lord Jesus Christ and some water. That is IT.

As for me, I guess I don't understand why it matters what a denomination accepts as long as the Lord Jesus is pleased. No church can monitor matters of the heart. And when they add rules and don't accept you as one of their own because of their rules... it is just a bunch of man made religious hoopla. Christianity isn't suppose to be about religious denomination rules. It should be a relationship with the creator. If the Lord doesn't care what denomination you were baptized in... why should it matter? Maybe it is something to think about... or maybe not. Just my thoughts.
