How to connect pvc to cast iron drain pipe at no pitch
I have wast line is iron cast pipe at the level. The contractor at cut half of this iron cast pipe and connect to pvc pipe. It is at the same level and no pitch at all. I wonder if there will be leak eventually in the future as the water will accumulate at the connector and eventually will leak. I have simililar problem for the gutter which connect at the same level and no pitch. The water will finally leak through the joint.
Is anyone know if the iron cast connect to pvc at the same level will eventually leak?
Thank you very much

You've told me everything but how the contractor made the joint and joined the pipes.
Did he use a metal shielded coupling? (see image) If he did there should be no leaks. All joints are made at the same leval. However the PVC should follow the same slope as the cast iron. Does it? Tell me more about this. Was the PVC pipe inserted between two cast iron pipes? What size are we talking about?
Are you saying the PVC has back slope? Can you post back with more information? Back to you, Tom

Thank you very much for the response. He used 4" x 3" flex couplin. The cast iron is 4" and pvc is 3".

I don't approve of using flexible connections underground, They can cause a "bell" in the line I liken a more ridged connection, You still haven't told me if the PVC piece has the same pitch as the cast iron. Back to you, Tom

If I understand you correctly the plumber cut the cast iron back to a 4" piece of pipe and coupled on to that. Correct? How long was the PVC and what did it connect to? Let me know, Tom
