2000 HONDA CIVIC VP DX-idle control and sticky pedal
Hi there! I have a two questions about my 2000 Honda Civic VP (DX). Where is the idle control valve located? I took it to Auto Zone and they suggested that I clean it- I don't know much about cars but I really want to do it myself or my fiancé to help me. Also, the best way to describe my next issue is it feels like whip lash when I press on the gas pedal and it's not me!! I guess it's sticky or something- it is not smooth going when I press on the gas. Am I making any sense here?

Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve is located on the rear of the throttle body. It will have a 2P connector going to it.
Your other problem sounds like it could be a throttle cable issue. Clean and lubricate the throttle cable with WD-40. Check the route of the cable, looking for anything unusual; e.g. cable coming out of a mounting bracket.

Have some one get in the car (not running) and push the gas peddle multiple times while your under the hood and Spray the hell out of the throttle lines with P.B. rust buster, let it soak then try it again... my friend had the same problem and that's how we fixed it

Sticky gas pedal is probably the throttle wire sticking - try to lube it or replace it. Part number is 17910-S01-G03 and it costs about $20. If you replace it, be sure to install the rubber grommet between the firewall and cable. Also be sure there is a little bit of slack at the throttle body or you will have idling problems.
Why did Autozone tell you to clean the idle air control valve?
Honda calls this a Rotary Air Control Valve (RACV) on your model and it is located on the front of the throttle body. It has two coolant hoses attached to it. It is operated electrically by the ECU and has no affect on your gas pedal concern. You can try to clean it (after you remove it) but if you are having problems with it then there may already be chemical corrosion on the rotary valve which can cause it to stick. When it sticks the idle can be too low or can hunt up and down. Unfortunately simply cleaning it will be a short term fix. You can buy a new one for $250. Part number is 16022-P2E-A51.

Do you have idling problems?
If so, when the idle is poor, take a screwdriver and try to smack the valve (gently) and see if the idle changes. If it does, your valve is probably sticking. You can try to clean it first. If that doesn't help, you can replace it. If you have a P0505 then it must be pretty bad.

I have a similar problem. Soon after start up idle jumps between 1000rpms to 2000rpms, no engine trouble codes, swapped new Idle Air Control Valve, swapped the PVC valve, clean throttle body, idle adjust did nothing, switch signals to computer all check out, hoses and connections all check out, changed the ECU for one on eBay, with no change in the idle. I did put a large piece of rubber on the intake to block air flow and the car idle settled and continued to run. Now I am really puzzled. Do I have an intake leak? Can anyone help? Two years trouble free record has come to an end!

When it comes to a rough idle, in my case it was bad O1 sensor.
Have been driving with the "sticky" gas pedal for more than two years now. I guess, if it was the throttle wire the problem would be worsening, however it isn't. Will try to fix and let you know if successful.

91 Honda Civic, 1.5l, remains at high idle, 1000-1500 until manually turning off by depressing pedal. Once engine rev'ed over about 1500 does it again. Will not return to low idle on it's own. Does not surge like vac hose off. No engine code. If I disconnect the temp sensor at bottom of radiator...
