I just replaced my anti-siphon bib. When I turn it on the first time, to water my lawn, I have normal water pressure. When I turn it off, and then back on the next day, the water pressure isn't what it should be... it's dropped to a trickle.
I have taken the stem out and put it back in several times and always get the same scenario: normal pressure at first then it drops when it's later turned back on.
When I remove the stem, I notice that the brass piece at the end that sandwiches the two washers, pops out of the stem about 3/8" of an inch and feels like it's spring loaded when pushed back in. Is that the way it's supposed to be? Or is that a manufacture fault? I'm wondering if that could be the problem? I just can't get constant,normal water pressure.

Thanks for the help with this... It's getting rather frustrating.

Not sure about what you are describing. Can you post a picture.

Is this a quarter turn hose bib?

Remove stem one more time. With stem removed turn on water about 10 seconds to flush out any debris that might be trapped in the pipe.

Thanks for trying to help me Harold. I really appreciate it. This was my first experience with this type of spigot and a learning experience.

Not sure what you are describing.

I was describing the washer assembly at tip of the stem (house end of stem).
Turns out that washer assembly is indeed spring loaded, and meant to press against the seat (to stop backflow), until water pressure from house is released and pushes it back far enough for water to flow out toward the yard.

Had already done that, and it was clear

In the end, I took it back and bought another, more expensive, brand and it works just fine. Still not sure why the other one didn't... but maybe someday. Thanks again for replying to my help request.

I guess the hose bib was just defective then. Sounds like a rather complicated approach. Glad you got it fixed.
