    Plumbing in basement.
    I have a homeowner permit - after jackhammering the basement floor and putting pipes in for toilet,sink,& shower do I have to wait for inspector to look at it before I cover it up with gravel &concrete . BOB.

    In most jurisdictions the inspector will want to see the rough-in plumbing before you cover it up. So don't pour any concrete until you get the OK.

    If you pulled a plumbing permit, yes, it will have to be inspected before you cover it up. Now, in my state, homeowners don't have to pull a plumbing permit to do their own plumbing on their own house (a law that needs to be changed in my area as far as Im concerned. Still have to pull an electrical permit to do it yourself, so why not a plumbing permit?) But I digress. Good for you for pulling a permit whether you needed on or not. That being said, you want to have it inspected so you know you did it right, right? Don't take a chance here, they can make you tear up the concrete if they really want to. Let us know how things turn out. Take care.

    PS. Not sure if this a common practice or not, but in our area, when we are in a rush, some inspectors will accept photos sent by email, and if they are happy with the pics, they will give you the go ahead to cover it up. Of course, our nearest inspector is about three hundred miles away, so we use the pics quite a bit. Ohhh the benefits of living in a very rural area,, not only a plumber, hvac tech, but now a photagrapher too. Hmmm, should get paid more for doing the inpectors job, yes?
