Zoned hvac systems can heat and air be run at same time different zones
We have a 4 zone heating system - natural gas. In summer when we run the air the basement gets frigid. We do not put the air on in the basement. The upstairs zones are set at approx. 74 and the basement zone is not turned on but the temp down there is 64. This is a full walkout basement with rec. room, bedroom, bathroom and storage area. Why is the basement so cold? If I set it to auto on the thermostat the heat kicks on for that zone. Is that OK?

Hello. I am rehabbing a house which is approx 3100 sq ft including basement. It currently has radiators and no central air. Two A/C systems, or two zones with one system? [ 3 Answers ]

Need to cool two areas of my house. The main downstairs area is 2200 sq ft, and the upstairs is 1000 sq ft. The first contractor thinks that it is better to install two separate systems because it can be a challenge to balance zones properly with add-on rooms. His suggestion is a 5 ton and...
