I cannot understand what strong feeling this guy wanted to feel whenhe dated me for the first time?

I recently met a medical nurse when I went for my medical check at the hospital. Before I left the hospital, we exchanged our numbers. I was not really interested but I wanted to give it a try. He immediately started to message me and he was very direct. He told me that he wanted to become my boyfriend. I had known other man but it was the first time that I met such a person. He told me that I had an incredible effect on him. He had such a strong feeling for me that he was very troubled. He could not let me go without taking my mobile number. We then started to call each other. In a very short time, we became close. He was convinced that what he was feeling was very special, so special that it's been years he has never felt so for a woman. He even told me that he loved me very much but I never told him that I loved him. For him, I was everything; I was the most important thing in his life. I doubted on his sincerity. We barely know each other but he was already telling me his personal matters and calling me his love, his honey, his life. Though I did not believe everything he told me, in some way, I let myself be influenced as he sounded so sincere. He was counting days when he would see me.
For our first date, he told me that he wanted to take me to a hotel. I was a bit reluctant but he cleverly persuaded me that it was the best thing to do. So, we went to the hotel. We had sex but I felt that something was wrong. He was behaving differently. Later, he said that he never felt the strong feeling that he initially felt. The magic feeling, the spark was just missing. He was looking for some kind of “current” between us. I cannot understand these two extremes: all wonderful and suddenly all bad.I think no sensible and intelligent person will determine his future in a relationship based on things so unstable like magic feelings. Now I am no longer desired, called or wanted. What feeling was he looking? I'm lost.
