Husqvarna lgt2654 - Briggs Intek 445877 26 hp no start
Last year wiring for headlamps laid on exhaust pipe & burned through damaging headlamp wiring & blowing fuse. Fuse replaced, headlamps no longer used & has been running fine. Last week while mowing PTO dropped out & engine died... no back fire or anything... just like key switch had been turned off. Fuse blown again but found considerable damage to the Ign. Dash Harness(#532401104) also. Ordered new harness & Socket Light Harness(#532183759). Removed damaged harnesses with little problem & installed new using all insulated clips & rerouted headlamp pigtail further from exhaust. Headlamps now work. Hour meter indicates. When ign. Switch turned on the solenoid under carb clicks & gasoline came be smelled. Engine cranks but has no spark to either plug. Found no damage to harness for seat switch & reused it. Removed plug from seat switch & reinstalled... connections look good. Several wires in original harness had insulation burned off & several wires fused together. Wondering if the short could have damaged an ignition component and how to test? The three wires in pigtail running out from under engine shroud appear undamaged and are plugged into new harness. Wires to & between coils appear to be OK also. Husqvarna schematic in manual helpful but have found little info on the engine ignition system.

Unplugged wires to both coils... engine started & ran. It shut off with key switch but not instantly. I guess the fuel solenoid closed shutting off the fuel. I checked pigtailconnector from seat switch & it does change state when seat is sat on from continuity to no continuity.

Further checked today. All interlocks working properly. Found one of two diodes in coil grounding pigtail bad. Had to order but am confident that will correct problem.
