Radiator leak?
Hi There,
All my radiators in my flat work very well, apart from two. The one in the bathroom that is not heating up at all and hasn't done for a while (year) is leaking at the inlet valve? (hope that's right). The other radiator is next on the circuit is the 2nd and too not working but not leaking and is fine just doesn't heat up. a) why aren't these radiators working? b) why if its not working is the bathroom one leaking? Any ideas? Thanks Confused homeowner! |

If this is a forced hot water system then most likely the reason the radiators aren't heating is because they have excessive air caught up in them. Here, the radiators should have bleeder valves (key/coin vents) on them... open them and bleed until you can fill a cup up with water. The radiators should heat after that or you have another issue. In terms of the leak, a forced water radiator always has water in it so a leak can happen at the valve nuts, especially when the heat is turned off and things contract... may be a quick repair... may not! The radiators have been bled a few times and the inlet pipe to the radiator isn't getting hot either. Is there a possibility of a blockage on that circuit? However, if there is a blockage I guess the bathroom radiator wouldn't be leaking! Stumped!. If any help, all radiators are 5 years old and run on a worchester boiler which too is 5 years old.
