Damage fees from other insurance co.
Ok so I don't know what to do because I'm 17 and I just got in a car accident but supposivly it was my fault. My mom never put new registration or insurance and I didt have my licencce at the time. So when the lady hit me she damaged my car to the point where I. Had to get my car towed and her car was smaller then mine and older and the only thing that broke on her car was the light cap shield thing, it just cracked and her washer fluid. So her insurance company calls me saying I owe $4,055 for the damage fees but I got my car fixed for $1200 and I know $4055 looks like that's how much te ladies car even cost. So if I don't pay that $4055 my licence when I turn 18 is going to be suspended and so will my insurance and registratin. I'm only 17 I don't have that kind of money anywhere. My qusteion are.. what happeneds if I don't pay it? Will my credit be messed up when I want to get a place or for college? And what can I do about the amount.. maybe pay like %15 of that or anything?? Please help me ;(

You say it was your fault, but then you say she hit you?

Was the car registered or insured or not? Who owned your car? That person is responsible for the damages.

If you have no insurance coverage, then you ask that her car be examined by a body shop of YOUR choosing. You can get multiple estimates. Then you will have to go to court, if you can't pay it to determine which estimate to use and then work out a payment plan.

Was it your fault or not? How did the accident occur?

Well on the court papers it was my fault. I got four tickets.. failed to yield, no insurance, no registration, no licence. The car is under my moms partners name and under mine. The court dropped the no insurance and no registration because my car doesn't even drive. But now should I take it to court cause $4055 is way too much for that ladies damages

You were charged with failure to yield. Were you convicted of failure to yield? If so, that would indeed mean it was your fault.

As ScottGem has told you, insist upon seeing estimates.

The fault was decided to be your fault, since you most have pulled out in front of someone.

And 4000 is not really a lot for a repair, I had a grill and hood fixed and it cost almost 3000. But you ask for estimates. But if you don't end up paying the actual damages, your drivers license will be suspended or revoked NOW and you will not get a drivers license till it is paid, or a court approved payment plan is set up.

I am surprised your mom as not fined and in trouble for not having the insurance on the car.

It is possible your mom could be included in the law suit against you, since it was her car.
So you may or should be asking her to help pay for this, if this was her car and if it was her that was suppose to have it insured.

Also if they sue you, there will be legal fees, and court costs, so the 4000 could easily become 6000 by the time it gets though court.
