Our hot water faucet on kitchen sink is leaking on the hot water side.

As a temporary fix I tried to turn off the hot water coming into the house under the sink. Barely turning the plastic handle resulted in water spraying out everywhere. I was able to turn back to where it was with small leak & tightened the nut next to it & that slowed leak down a bit more. Have stopped using sink completely until we can repair.

I have been able to turn off the hot water supply under bathroom sink to stop leaky faucet until we could repair it worked fine. I'm talking about the same kind of connection like a toilet has, when overflowing you turn handle to shut off flow of water coming in.

I'm looking for confirmation that maybe the handle or valve (whatever you want to call it) needs to be replaced & reason I can't turn without spraying water is that is on the verge of breaking.

It connects to a brass t compression valve.

1. I've been looking online at home improvement stores & can't find the handles - any suggestions?

2. The brass t compression valve was professionally installed & is about 12 years old (same as new copper plumbing) do you think this might need replacing?

Thanks if you can help. I have a very basic understanding of plumbing, but don't know names of every part unless I can find online. I'm disabled so running around to stores is difficult for me.

I do not want to sound rude but I am not so sure of your basic plumbing understanding. What is " bolt next to shut off valve" Sounds like your shut of valve is a standard turn valve with a bonnet nut just below the handle. Try tightening that nut with the valve handle already open
