    My husband just passed away, we have joint bank account what do I do?
    I was told that bank can freeze my bank account, my husband just passed away and no debts are owed to the bank, we have a joint account, what do I do to put account in my name only now? STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA

    You take the Death Certificate to the Bank and ask that the account be changed.

    A JOINT account will not be frozen because it doesn't pass through the Will. If is as much your money as it was his.

    If it is joint, as Judy said , its as much yours as his. You don't need to bother with the death certificate. Just withdraw the money and deposit elsewhere.
