Floor drain in garage backing up and flooding after washer drains
Please help when our washer drains the water backs up out of the floor draain in garage and floods the floor. I put the water hose down the drain and it took that water with no problem. I am on city water I checked the outside clean out pipe and it was fine. This only happens when I do laundry, it is a mess. I lost several boxes of momentos. I am on a fixed income and disabled so the clean up is hard for me as well as paying a plumber will be hard to do, so any advice and suggestions would be so appreciated. Thanks

Hi pecnluv and welcome, you mention being on city water, are you also on city sewer? Or septic tank?

You may need to snake the line, sounds like you have blockage down stream of the floor drain.

You have a partial b blockage downstream from the garage floor drain. The reason you have a problem when the washer discharges is that it discharges with more force and volume then any of your other fixtures,
I checked the outside clean out pipe and it was fine.
But did you check it while the washer was draining? If not cycle the washer and tell me if it backs up in the clean out. Need to know** city sewer or septic tank? Check the clean out for me and I'll be back with a solution. Regards, Tom
