I'm 16 and want to move to Georgia with my boyfriend
Im 16 and I want to move to gorgia with my boyfriend and his familyat the end of the summer. I can cook, clean, and take care of myself. His mom said she would take me if I got everything straight with my parents and she said I would have to finish school. She also said there will be rules so it will NOT be like we are married and I know my dad will not let me go because he doesn't like my boyfriend. So I just want to know do I have to have both my parents consent or just one if I live in North Carolina?? Thanks.

Yes, you have to have the consent of both parents.

Is there any way I can get them to let me go without going to court?

Both parents will have to agree, And would you be staying in a separate room or the same room. How long have you known him, and why would his mother make all of these offers, In some areas her trying to get you to move away from home could be considered criminal and a form of interfering with custody ( a more common charge here in GA)

If your father says no, then there is no other way.

Considering you are still a minor your parents are responsible for you.

You can not make them even by going to court.
    1. you have have to have a real reason, wanting to be with your boyfriend is not a reason.
    2. you would have to prove emancipation which requires that you be able to live on your own, not with another family.

If you run away, you could be sent to Juv for a run away and his parents living at that home could be charged with crimes.

We would be sleeping in different rooms and I don't just want to be with him I thnk he might be the one and I need to get away from my family for a while. I have known him for a couple years now but our parents have only met once. Even though we have our ups and downs we still love each other and my mom said she doesn't have a problem with him because he treats me right but my dad doesn't like him because he is puerto rican... and to me that's a stupid reason

The reasons don't matter. Unless both parents agree, you cannot move without being declared a runaway. And if that happens your boyfriend's family can be in serious trouble for taking you in. Even offering to let you live with them could get them in trouble for parental interference.

You have less than 2 years until you are 18. If he is the one, then this will keep.
