    Wiring issue
I am attempting to wire a ceiling fan in place of a light fixture. There are two ceiling fixtures controlled by one switch. I wish to hard wire the fan so it works independent of the other switch controlled fixture.

    How do I accomplish this?

When it is all said and done you will still have " two ceiling fixtures controlled by one switch" Sounds like they are on the same cable, you would have to run additional cable and switch to work the fan independently.

If in Conduit it should not be a problem, if romex, It still may not be a problem, you would have to expose the wires in the switch box and the ceiling boxes to see what is going on.

You could maybe install a light/fan remote setup, and have the light controlled from the receiver, you could control the 2 separate fixtures with remote(s)
