    Cutting pvc pipe to fit cast iron pipe
    Iam trying to put in a shower and the drain is about 2inchs off. I have cast iron piping and only have 8inchs available to connect the boot and pvc piping to it to move the drain to fit. The pvc piping I found meassures 12inchs and I only have 8 inchs available to make sure I don't cut into where the water sits in the p trap. Any idea on an easy way to get this drain moved over?

    If you want to move the drain over a couple of inches why not simply convert to PVC using a shielded coupling, (see image) and 45 or ell over? Or what am I missing? Back to you Tom

    Hi guys...

    JYB, it seems you want to offset the cast iron drain pipe 2" and you only have 8" Max. vertical height to make it happen using traditional fittings... yes/no?

    If yes, then you want to try the cast x PVC shielded coupling posted by Speedball, and see if 2" street 45s or 2" PVC 22.5 and street 22.5 degree fittings can make the offset you want to achieve.

    If that fails to work then you may want to see if you can get your hands on a 2" PVC OFFSET SHOWER DRAIN... see image. This drain,along with the street 22.5 degree fittings will work, for sure!
