My 91 civic dx is having a knocking sound from the passenger front wheel area when I'm turning. I looked at it today and everything looks in place except for the tie rod boot closest to the hub. It was torn all the way around and the plastic was coming out of it. Has anyone had a similar problem

Passenger side axel is likely beginning to fail. That tie rod needs replaced too... I'd check the others and replace any with damage boots or that appear loose. Then get a new alignment.

Replace the half-axle ($50, Cardone Select New) and outer tie-rod end ($20, AutoZone). Afterwards, grease the new tie-rod end. Personally, I would very carefully check the lower ball-joint and likely replace it (Moog) for safety reasons, if it has never been done. If the lower ball-joint fails, the whole wheel and steering knuckle will be ripped off the car. This is the ideal time to do all of this.

We recently acquired a 1982 Honda Civic Wagon with only 95,000 miles. It's in great shape, but started making a knocking sound from the rear. The brakes are also a little jumpy, but all is well if I down-shift to brake. The car isn't shimmy-ing, but the knocking is problematic.

1980 Suzuki GS 450 "rubbing" noise front wheel area [ 2 Answers ]

I hear a rubbing noise coming from the front wheel area. Just had new break pads installed and it otherwise runs fine. Seems to occur more so at higher speeds and not necessarily all the time. Rotors and pads rubbing? Something else? Anything major to be concerned about? Thanks.:)
