Concerned about pregnancy and blood types
What is the risk of my baby developing Hemolytic Disease of the Newborn, if my anti-d quantitation level is 0.1IU/ml and not rising. Is it okay to continue pregnancy to term and go into labor naturally with antibodies at this level, or will I need to be induced? I was wanting to have a home birth, is this possible with this level of antibodies? Many thanks, Sarah

What is your blood type? This disorder is usually caused by ABO Incompatibility, which is when two incompatible blood types mix together. It is also caused by Rh Incompatibility wherein you have a negative blood type and the baby is positive. This cane be prevented by having a RhoGHAM shot during pregnancy and shortly after delivery.

I am rhesus negative, and was not given/offered the rhogham shot during this pregnancy. I had a routine antibody screen done at 20 weeks, which came back as negative, but since then I've had what my consultant considered to be a 'silent bleed' in which the baby's blood passed through to my blood.
