    Floor is 2" above toilet pipe
    My toilet was seeping water from the base. I removed the toilet. My floor is 2" up from the base of the pipe. The pipe is 3". The tile floor opening is 6" in circumference. It appears I need a flange extender but the one I purchased is to tall and is a 7" diameter at the top. Even if it was shorter, it would not fit inside the existing pipe - it is 3" as well. What do I do? By the way, the tile floor is laid in with cement - old house... Thanks

    Hi Howies

    What flange extender did you purchase that is too "tall"? Please let me know, OK?

    Have you looked at the 1/4"-3/8" flange extenders? Here, you can stack the extensions one on top of the other... works in most cases... see image below. You may need to enlarge the hole around the old flange using a hammer and chisel.

    You might also look into the new fernco waxless bowl ring (see other image)... this inserts into the 3" pipe and goes in pretty deep so may work nice here. The bottom of the toilet bowl MUST be free from wax to use this.

    Great answer Mark. If I ran into a toilet flange 2" recessed I'd start asking who did the floor. No plumber would install like this but I suspect someone added a new sub floor.
