I stole from my employer, what happens now?
    Hi everyone,

I was recently fired from my job because I stole from them. I took some old ink cartridges and sold them, in total, probably around $300 - $350, or thereabouts. Over the past two years or so, I would mail an occasional DVD or book out and bill it to the company. I was caught doing this and admitted to everything. When I was asked to give a number as to what I thought I had taken from the company, I put down $5,000. In all honesty, it was a hell of a lot less than this but the security investigator kept telling me that if they did an investigation and the number came back higher, it wouldn't look good for me. So I put down $5,000. I know it was a lot less than this, probably, if I were to hazard a guess, in the range of maybe $1,500 - $2,000, max, maybe even less. I wasn't arrested and was very co-operative with security and also with the police. The cop said I wasn't going to be arrested because he initially thought I was stealing PCs and monitors and laptops and selling these but because it was selling some old ink cartridges, that is why he didn't arrest me. I made a really bad judgement call doing this, it's the first time I've ever done this and would like to know what comes next. I'm willing to accept whatever I deserve but really have no idea what is going to happen. Thank you.

Do not make another statement to the police without an attorney, Theft over 5000 which is what you confessed to, is a felony, and will make a serious for you. And don't expect the police not to charge you, they are investigating and most likely may get the grand jury to indict you first before they arrest you.

And so you are ready to go to jail for a few months to even prison for a couple years. Are you ready for probation for 3 to 5 years and finding it almost impossible to get a job because you are a felon?

You need to shut up, stop helping them send you to jail and get an attorney.
