I stole from my employer, what happens now?
Hi everyone,
I was recently fired from my job because I stole from them. I took some old ink cartridges and sold them, in total, probably around $300 - $350, or thereabouts. Over the past two years or so, I would mail an occasional DVD or book out and bill it to the company. I was caught doing this and admitted to everything. When I was asked to give a number as to what I thought I had taken from the company, I put down $5,000. In all honesty, it was a hell of a lot less than this but the security investigator kept telling me that if they did an investigation and the number came back higher, it wouldn't look good for me. So I put down $5,000. I know it was a lot less than this, probably, if I were to hazard a guess, in the range of maybe $1,500 - $2,000, max, maybe even less. I wasn't arrested and was very co-operative with security and also with the police. The cop said I wasn't going to be arrested because he initially thought I was stealing PCs and monitors and laptops and selling these but because it was selling some old ink cartridges, that is why he didn't arrest me. I made a really bad judgement call doing this, it's the first time I've ever done this and would like to know what comes next. I'm willing to accept whatever I deserve but really have no idea what is going to happen. Thank you.
