    Dishwasher overflow
Our dishwasher overflows every time we use it. It sprays out of the overflow as if it's a spray hose. I don't have any manual that would have suggestions. Please advise on some things I can do. Thank you:confused:

I am not familiar with a dishwasher overflow. Is it a part of the appliance or the drain system?

I think its called an overflow valve. It is located on the kitchen sink next to the faucet/sprayer. It is a silver gadget that is 2 inches tall and when the dishwasher is running water comes out of the 2 slots it has on it. My dishwasher is an Amana. Thank you, Sable

Oh, that is a vacuum breaker. In Florida and Georgia we don't use them. We run the drain hose directly into a trap in Georgia and into the disposer branch or into the sink drain in Florida. The vacuum breaker has probably failed. It should be connected with hose clamps to the piping and a simple nut holding it to the countertop. Just buy a new one and replace it.

We moved into our house last November '05. We've used our GE Profile dishwasher MANY times and LOVE it. Tonight, during the wash cycle, it started flowing bubbles. LOTS OF BUBBLES.
