My sister lives in Italy & her boyfriend is in AL. Because of working patterns & the time difference, he sometimes rings her whilst he is at work/travelling by dialling his home number & rerouting the call to Italy.
This has worked fine for a couple of years, but for the last 6 months, she has started hearing a US ringing tone when he calls her & when she picks up, the line goes dead. He keeps ringing, 15, 20, or more times, until she eventually hears her Italian ringing tone & the call connects OK.
He originally had a package with Frontier.com, but changed to Vonage in December to see if it resolved the issue, but it's still happening. Vonage say that their router is working correctly, the call is connecting every time, & the problem must be in Italy. But my sister's phone company say that it's not at their end.
Has anyone experienced a similar problem & can explain why this is happening?
