Well one example you could use is Hawaii... late 1890's when we kicked Queen Liliuokalani out of power and forced Dole to Rule as the US annexed the islands of Hawaii.

(looking for a reason to fight) to help cuba gain independence to help America's Economy. Cuba became U.S. Protectorate
