    Unjustly targeted for stealing at work. Do I have a case to seek legal action?
    I quit a job about a year ago where there was a lot of stealing going on in which I felt the guilty party was trying to blame me. It started when a deposit went missing on a day that I wasn't working and then 'miraculously' showed up on another shift in which I was working. Apparently, there was a police officer brought to the store about this but no one was blamed for it. After this, suddenly money went missing in a spare drawer that was never used and therefore never counted at work. After this of course it was counted every night. And on top of that my deposits, which were taken to the bank by the opening manager, were suddenly frequently short 5 maybe 10 dollars. Now I know this wasn't the case since I would count and recount and sometimes count again my deposits to make sure the were right and it was done very clearly on camera. I sometimes even had a person to witness me do the deposit or pull money from registers. Other managers were not following proper procedures when it came to handling the money such as, counting the deposit before taking it to the bank in the morning, or they were facing their back to the camera while counting money so you couldn't tell what they were doing. I always tried to keep it clear to the camera what I was doing and still I felt the person stealing was trying their darndest to blame it on me. I didn't quit through all of this, I felt that if I just stuck it out then they would get caught. But, I lost it after one of the managers accused me of leaving the office door open when I closed the night before. I didn't believe her and checked that camera to find out that she did lie and I quit shortly after. Even thought it has been a year, is there still a way to seek legal action against this or have some type of investigation? I really feel I was targeted and it grieves me that the guilty person wasn't brought to justice. One more thing, the managers were friends with the District manager of our store, who was the one looking at the cameras for evidence, so I feel there was major leniency toward who I think is the guilty person, whom she is very good friends with.

    As long as the experience ISN'T costing you jobs NOW, you have no recourse. There's LOTS of bad bosses out there.

    No, you quit, you were not forced to quit, you were not charged by the police they did not even tell police they thought you were doing it.

    You worked for bad bosses, you will find and work for dozens of them though the years. Sorry not sure who or what you thought you may have a case against, but there is none.

    You quit, right, because you didn't like the working conditions? That lessens your chances of recovering anything.

    Is the former employer somehow costing you jobs or money by lying about your employment with "them"?

    You can only sue for monetary loss.
