I had a water leak in the cold water faucet. Which resulted with water underneath my 50 year old tub. It leaked approximately 3 weeks before I noticed seeming tape in my garage ceiling starting to fall. I have access through a bedroom closet to the faucets and therefore can see the water under the tub. It is a very thin layer of insulation that is wet over a very sturdy board. Any ideas on how to quickly dry this or pull it out of there (arms are not long enough) before molding sets in? I had a plumber repair the leak, so that is no longer a problem. Any help would be appreciated.

I assume you've already swabbed out as much water as you could reach. For the rest run the AC in the bath or rent a dehumdifier and let it run in a closed bathroom. Good luck, Tom

Speedball1: I cleaned out as much wet insulation as I could reach. With the paper covering over it being very strong I had a tough time pulling out what I could reach. It is also very itchy. I got a grocery plastic bag full out of there. I am now running a dehumidifier. If that doesn't work, I guess my next move is cutting out some of the ceiling in the garage. Thanks, Jayne.

Hi Jayne,
I don't think you have to open up the ceiling. If you leave the de humidifier run 24/7 it will eventually pull all the moisture out. Did you try a wet vac? Regards, Tom

Hi Tom, I believe you are right. I will not need to open the ceiling below the tub.
With the de-humidifier running non-stop for 9 days now, I have emptied approximately
1 gallon of water. Thanks so much for all the help. Jayne
