We often get issues and people talk about Catholic Priests not being married, This group has been in the process of forming for the last few years.

This is a new Ordinariate within the Catholic church, They will be using a Anglican Rite approved by Rome but the priests can be married. In fact the Ordinary over the group here in the US will be Rev. Jeffrey N. Steenson and he is married.

A group like this was started last year in the UK.

So while there has always been a few married priest in the Catholic Church, you will soon see many more in the US and in the UK.

Naw, there will always be some weirdo's. Places like churches of all sorts, school teachers, scout leaders and more are all places where some of them go.

Good , celibacy should be a discipline instead of a doctrine. There is no historical justification for the restriction and certainly no doctrinal justification.
FYi.. the Church has granted pastoral provisions for married Anglican clergy who wish to enter the Catholic Church for a long time now . In fact there was never a restriction of married priests. The trick was that the man had to be married before entering the priesthood. So the Pope is really just restating existing policy.

Well of course they should be married as it provides a more balanced life experience as well as the support of a wife.

Being from a multi denominational family, I've seen more weirdos in the religions other than Catholicism.

You know there is a lot of truth in that

One detail about the "ordinariate": a married priest can not be made bishop. So these priests are not really equal to their unmarried peers.

While a few former Episcopalean priests and congregations have taked advantage of this offer from the RC church, I doubt there will be many more. Seems to me that conservative Episcopaleans who are unhappy with the state of the church would more likely join up with a different conservative protestant church rather than the RC church.

They did make a married priest the head of the Ordinary and he will have voting rights in the Council of Bishops, and he will be allowed to wear all of the emblems of a Bishop, he just can't call his self a Bishop. I always thought if it looked like a duck and quacked like a duck it was a duck, I guess in this case it is not a duck.
