How to get child support for children that are adults?
Now that the children are adults and the father never paid any child support what can I do? My situation is the father waited until the child was 30 yrs of age to establish paternity. The test proved that he could not ignore the fact that he is his son. Recently, my children father and I began dating after 40 yrs and after I relocated back to Chicago from another city. We begin to rekindle our relationship. At that time I had separated from my marriage of twenty years. I relocated to Chicago to start my life over again. Then I start dating my children's father, we had never married. After dating for about six months I decided to end my marriage in divorce. Several months later I moved in with the children's father. We were getting along so well and then he decided to cheat on me with his ex-wife from his second marriage. Now I have to find me another place to stay, I live from paycheck to paycheck. Although he gave me the deposit for an apartment, he still made my life so inconvient, and using money that I do not have to move. Is there anything I do to receive some restitution for what I have been put through. I have suffered humiliation and spending money I do not have. He is a firemen and have been on his job long enough and is about to retire. What if any compensation can I file for?

Illinois does permit retroactive support even prior to the filing for support. However, since the children are now adult they may not entertain a request for support.

I would strongly suggest you consult a Family Law attorney to see what the possibilities of filing for retro support are.

I see nothing you can file for, you needed to have filed when they were children.
