I am making an attempt to move out of my house. My mom spends our child support money unwisely and treats me like crap. So my question is is there a way I can receive the child support. I'll be 18 on October 9th but planning to move out around July August. I will still be attending high school for my senior year after I turn 18 which will make it hard to earn enough money to support myself. I currently have a job that pays minimum wage and I'm going to be averaging during the school year 11 hours but I could pull more hours or get a second job to help my case. Someone please help! I feel stuck.

No, the child support is money paid to the parent for things like rent, food, electric and clothes.

If you move out your father can file a motion with the court that you are emancipated and ask that all payments be stopped.
If he does not or if the court rules against him, he will still have to just keep paying your mom.

So no you will not be paid the money directly to you.

Also, if you are turning 18, usually child support stops when you are 18 unless extraordinary measures were put into your child support order when your parents were divorced saying that child support is extended after you turn 18.

Yes, Califdad I meant 18 or high school. Misread the OP post! Was not paying attention. Good catch. Thank you!!

But if she does move out then all bets are off like Chuck said and dad can and probably will cease paying child support as you are considered emancipated at 18 and not living with your mom.

If you still want to have mom collect the child support for you maybe you should reconsider moving out in July/August.
