    Why is my Thermostat going to auxillaty heat?
    My Honeywell thermostat is going to auxiliary heat!

    Well not too much information on your post, but in the colder months the heat pump goes into a defrost cycle. This is determined by outdoor temperature and by a thermostat in the outdoor unit. When the heat pump goes into defrost it actually goes into a cooling mode and to keep heating during that cycle the auxiliary heat will come on. I'm thinking that is your scenario.
