    Puppy that might have a fever
    We have a puppy that is 10 week old that was covered in fleas so we washed her in flea/tick shampoo. She seems like she might have a fever and when she sleeps she pants. Could she be having a reaction from the shampoo?

    She could be having a reaction, but my guess would be dehydration. A lot of dogs with severe flea infestations also have worms. The flea bath alone will not get rid of the worms. I would take her into the vet for a once over and get her on a regular flea/worm preventitve. I like Revolution, it is of the cheaper ones and just as effective, but there are many other great products your vet can recommend. I would stay away from over the counter flea/worm products as they usually don't work.

    The panting could be nothing, a lot of dogs breath heavier while sleeping. She could just be dreaming. It could also indicate a respiratory infection, so really, your best bet here is to get her checked by your vet. Don't forget to get her vaccinated for Parvo. Parvo is the leading puppy killer and is running rampant these days.
