    3 yr old with fever
My 3 year old has been running a temperature for the past couple of days. Motrin does help keep it down, but I'm concerned because he keeps complaing of having something in his mouth. Periodically he will start wimpering and tell me "get it out mama" and when I tell him that nothing is in his mouth he sticks his fingers in his mouth as if to show me that something is in there and then he gags himself. I used a flashlight to look in his mouth to see if his throat was red at all and it appears to be fine. Does anyone have any idea what could be happening?

This sounds as though it could be a classic sign of either tonsillitis or strep throat. If a fever over 100 F persists for 24 hours the child should be seen by a doctor and be placed on antibiotics.

I've had hay fever since I was about 18. It isn't quite as bad now but still there. Has anyone ever outgrown it or does it tend to last for life?
