Harbor breeze fan works, lights don't
I have a harbor breeze fan I installed more than a year ago. Today my daughter (13 years old) went to turn her light on and describe to me what she thought was a blue streak of light that came from the fan before everything went dead. While checking the breaker I found out that it had been tripped. I reset the breaker and went back to her room to check the fan but all three lights were out but fan works. Changed bulbs but no luck. Anyone have an idea?

How is this controled: pull chains, switch, remote? That blue streak usually means the circuit is now an open circuit due to a short or wires that have disconnected.

Shut off the breaker to this circuit and disconnect the light kit where it connects to the fan base. Carefully check the blue and white wires running to the light. One of those wires may have come open or shorted.

I took the fan apart at the lights nothing appeared to be burnt or shorted. There was two black boxes attached to the pull switches but they did not appear to be damaged. I am assuming that the boxes were the switches that cut power to the lights and fan. The good thing is that I called Lowe's and the manager said he would exchange the fan for another one and if they did not have one they would refund me the last price they had them for (no receipt required a year old). I will wait to hear your response before I take the fan back. Thanks again for your help.
