Sorry I forgot to describe what is going on. I know someone who is being charged with theft under 5000 from the employer. This is their first offence and they are over 18. They have a court date in a week, and they have no idea what to expect. Can anyone help us on this matter? Will the person get a criminal record? Is the person eligible for a diversion. Since she can't afford a lawyer and is in her first year of university, what are the chances of her getting in a lot of trouble? She feels really bad about what she did and doesn't know what pushed her to do it. Can anyone help?! Please!

    Hello L:

There's no way to tell. The only advice I have is to hire a lawyer... Yes, yes, I heard you... She can't afford a lawyer... I suggest, having been there, that she can't afford NOT to hire a lawyer.
